I did start on the entryway yesterday and was making some progress. I got the bead board up on one side of the hallway and thought it was looking pretty good. I intended simply to put the bead board around the bottom portion of the walls, install a rail on top of the board, paint the top portion of the wall, and then put new baseboards around the bottom. However, it's not going to be that easy - of course....
I discovered that there were so many imperfections on the top portion of the wall that wouldn't look too good if they were simply painted over. I went today to get some texture material and actually found some in a 1 gallon paint can that the store tinted to my preference. OK, not so bad I thought.
I decided to do a little more research before using the texture on the wall and looked up the product on the company's website. Of course, it stated in bold, capital letters, "DO NOT USE OVER WALLPAPER." Great - that means I now have to strip that darned 30-year old wallpaper off the walls before I can even hope to continue with my board installation and painting ....
